A cairn is a human-formed pile of rocks or stone. In ancient times, they were constructed as monuments, tributes, and as astronomical markers. In more modern times, cairns are frequently erected as landmarks, marking the tops of mountains, borders, or points on a journey.
CAIRN on the Boulevard is intended to mark a point in the history of the city: the point at which Grande Prairie as a Community starts addressing the needs of our vulnerable populations. The CAIRN will provide people with permanent housing, giving them the stability they need to move forward in their lives. The CAIRN was concieved with the goal of building the best building possible for our Community. Factors considered in the design were functionality, aesthetics, security and the many paths people will take on their transition to independence. The CAIRN is thoughtfully designed with specific consideration given to the environment, accessibility, community and comfort. The CAIRN offers unrivalled living spaces and leads the way to a more sustainable way of living in Grande Prairie.
